Food Lion Remodels Five Fla. Stores

Food Lion, LLC has bowed five remodeled stores in the Daytona Beach, Fla., area on a single day this month. As part of the Delhaize banner’s continuing “Take A Fresh Look” renewal efforts, the chain has revamped the locations to give them a fresh look and feel. Additionally, the renovations have created almost 110 jobs in the community.

“This is an exciting time for Food Lion and our customers, as we celebrate a fresh, new look, a greater selection of products and a renewed focus on service,” said Gene Faller, VP of Southeastern Markets for Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion. “We wanted to enhance our customers’ shopping experience through a more inviting interior design and have expanded our fresh departments, including produce, meats and deli/bakery, as well as our organic selection.”

The new signage, graphics and décor, as well as the enhanced lighting, impart a neighborhood marketplace ambiance. The remodeling also provided more space for a bigger selection of products, including more natural and organic foods and expanded beer and wine offerings.

Each store marked its June 17 reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and such activities as in-store product sampling, grilled hot dog lunches and giving away 50 tickets to a Daytona Cubs game.

The stores are located in Saint Augustine, Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Deltona and Port Orange.

Food Lion operates more than 1,300 supermarkets, either directly or through affiliated entities, under the names of Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Harveys and Reid’s. The chain employs about 74,000 associates in 11 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
