Food Lovers Say They’d Pay More for Natural/Organic Products

Over 83 percent of foodies say they’d pay more for at least some organic or all-natural foods, a recent survey of 562 food bloggers from Healthbuzz, a new resource for nutrition and wellness information launched by online food community Foodbuzz.

Major trends revealed in the survey results were knowledge of where foods come from and what their ingredients are. For instance, 69 percent of foodies polled “always” read the nutrition panels of foods they buy. Additionally, the majority of respondents (83 percent) believe locally grown food to be healthier overall.

Food lovers even want to know more about the food they order when eating out. Ninety-six percent of respondents like knowing where a restaurant’s food comes from, which is reflected in the growing number of eateries that provide such information in their menus.

“From nutrition labels to restaurant menus, our research shows that people, now more than ever, are looking for information that reassures them that they are making informed choices about food, nutrition and overall wellness,” noted Ryan Stern, director of community and managing editor of San Francisco-based Foodbuzz. “And that’s the thinking behind Healthbuzz — leveraging the platform of the largest online food community to provide a hub where people can find relevant tools from nutrition experts and wellness enthusiasts alike to help them achieve a healthful balance in their day-to-day life.”

Featuring exclusive partnerships with over 3,500 food bloggers and offering more than 2 million food blog posts in its searchable database, Foodbuzz reaches 9.6 million people each month, according to Quantcast.
