Former Wild Oats Exec. to Run Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Tim Overlie, a 23-year veteran of natural and organic foods retailer Wild Oats Markets today was named c.e.o. of Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy.

Overlie will oversee the 14-year-old artisanal dairy's expansion to a new 80-acre farm in Boulder County and the startup of a new cheesemaking facility in Ada, Okla., as well as the company's expansion of the production, marketing, and sales of its award-winning cheeses.

"Tim brings to Haystack Mountain his strong knowledge of specialty cheeses and a unique retail-industry perspective," said Jim Schott, founder and current c.e.o. of Haystack Mountain, who plans to "semi-retire" at year's end. "He has all the qualifications to lead the company as we continue to grow."

For the past three years, Overlie has been cheese and specialty category manager for Wild Oats. His previous positions included store director, regional director, and purchasing manager. While at Alfalfa's Markets - before it merged with Wild Oats - he held various management positions over a 12-year period.

Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy is one of approximately 50 farmstead cheesemakers in America, and supplies specialty cheeses to retailers in 30 states, including Wild Oats, Whole Foods, King Soopers, and Safeway. It has received numerous awards over the years from the American Cheese Society and the World Cheese Contest.
