Kroger to Open New Marketplace Prototype in Dublin, Ohio

DUBLIN, Ohio -- The Kroger Co. will trot out its Marketplace prototype format for a store that will anchor a new 200,000-square-foot shopping center here, according to the developer overseeing the project.

Developers Schottenstein Management Co. and Plaza Properties said the new Kroger Marketplace will weigh in at 99,000 square feet, and feature the design tweaks and multiple departments that set the format apart from other Kroger banner units. The store will feature a gas station and a drive-through pharmacy, as well as a bed and bath section, jewelry department, organic produce section, and sushi bar.

Kroger operates two other Marketplace stores, both in Columbus, and plans to open at least two additional units in 2006.
