Marsh Unveils New Services For Moms, Seniors at Remodeled Store

INDIANAPOLIS - In tandem with a $1.5 million makeover of its Middletown, Ind. Marsh Hometown Market that debuts today, Marsh Supermarkets Inc. here is launching new services aimed at securing customer loyalty.

Senior citizens who sign up for the Senior Rewards program are eligible for an extra discount of 5 percent when they shop at the revamped Middletown Marsh. The store will also be host to a "New Moms Club," which will enable new mothers to receive special savings on baby-related items, according to press reports.

The remodeled store, which originally opened in January 1960 and remained open for business during the renovations, has undergone significant upgrades including new ceilings, tiles, shelves, cases and better lighting.

The company has been remodeling and rebranding all of its Marsh stores under the Hometown Market or Marketplace concept. Hometown Markets are typically smaller stores that place emphasis on saving time and money when you shop. Marsh Marketplaces are larger stores with expanded seafood departments, a larger selection of meats and perishables and a wider variety of organic and natural food products.

Florida-based Sun Capital Partners acquired Marsh in September 2006. In May, Sun announced a "deconsolidation" of the Marsh and Village Pantry units. Marsh operates 79 Marsh Supermarkets, 19 LoBill Foods, 6 O'Malia's Food Markets, Crystal Food Services, Primo Banquet Catering and Floral Fashions.
