Organic Trade Association's Executive Director to Step Down in '06
GREENFIELD, Mass. -- After nearly 16 years at the helm of the Organic Trade Association (OTA) here, Katherine DiMatteo said yesterday she plans to leave her role as executive director. There is no immediate date set for DiMatteo's departure, and she intends to remain in her position through a transition process that is slated for spring 2006. There will be adequate time built in for a smooth succession, the OTA said.
"I'm looking forward to moving on to new life opportunities, utilizing the expertise and experience I have gained over the years," DiMatteo said in a statement.
"Katherine has been a passionate, outspoken advocate for the organic business community," said Phil Margolis, president of OTA's board of directors.
Under DiMatteo's leadership, the association supported the passage of the U.S. Organic Foods Production Act and the establishment of the National Organic Standards Board in 1990. OTA was a major advocate for the U.S. National Organic Program, which was fully implemented in 2002.
OTA's board of directors has engaged recruiting firm Kittleman & Associates to manage the broad-based search for the organization's next executive director.
