Stater Bros. Promotes Lee to EVP, Retail Ops & Admin

COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. here promoted industry veteran Jim Lee to the newly created position of e.v.p. retail operations and administration. Lee, who joined Stater Bros. in 2002 as group s.v.p. of retail operations, will report to Don Baker, president and c.o.o.

"Jim has done an outstanding job of leading our retail operations division over the past four years," said Jack Brown, chairman and c.e.o. of Stater Bros. "I am confident that he will do an excellent job in his new position and will be valuable to the future growth of Stater Bros."

Prior to joining Stater Bros., Lee was the c.o.o. at Boulder, Colo.-based natural and organic retailer Wild Oats Markets from 1996 to 2001. He began his grocery career at Ralphs Grocery Co. in 1972, and held various management positions during his 25 years at the Compton, Calif.-based Kroger chain, including store manager, district manager, v.p. of store operations administration, v.p. store operations (Northern Division and Southern Division), and group v.p. of its Central Division.

Lee serves as secretary/treasurer and education chairman of the Western Association of Food Chains board of directors, and is on the board of trustees of the California Grocers Association (CGA) Educational Foundation.

Stater Bros.operates 163 Supermarkets, and employs approximately 17,000. Its annual sales in 2005 were $3.4 billion. Stater Bros. also owns and operates Heartland Farms, provider of Knudsen Dairy products to Southern California.
