MINNEAPOLIS -- A Seattle developer has paved the way for a $180 million condo project that will feature a Whole Foods Market here.

Dubbed The Marketplace Tower, the project will also redevelop a car dealership on Washington and Hennepin Aves. that will include a 76,000-sq.-ft. Whole Foods grocery store below a 35-story condo tower, according to published reports.

Groundbreaking is slated for the spring of 2007, and the project is expected to be complete by the spring of 2009.

In other Whole Foods news, the Austin, Texas-based natural and organic supermarket retailer has signed a lease to build its second Orlando, Fla., area store. The new 50,000-sq.-ft. store unit will be located on Turkey Lake Road in south Orlando.

Whole Foods, which operates 170 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, has a location in Winter Park, Fla., which opened in 1998 and will remain open after the second Orlando unit is built.
