Whole Foods Launches Healthy Back-to-school Promotion

Whole Foods will focus on the health and wellness of kids of all ages during August and September as part of its "Be Good to Your Whole Body" campaign. The promotion, part of its Whole Body departments, will include in-store lectures and podcasts about building immune systems, managing stress, and kid-friendly body care to start the school year off right.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 22 million school days are lost each year because of the common cold. Learning about nutrition and strengthening the immune system may help kids headed back to the classroom, according to the Austin, Texas-based organic/natural food chain.

The chain has assembled several resources online, including a video podcast with Lynda Fassa, founder of Green Babies, an organic cotton clothing company and author of "Green Babies and Sage Moms." Her book covers how 'tweens and teens can benefit from natural products. Four audio podcasts are available online, dealing with such subjects as natural oral care for kids, essential fatty acids and back-to school brainpower, building a healthy immune system for a healthy school year, and the need for daily multivitamins.
