Whole Foods to Open White Plains, N.Y. Store
AUSTIN, Texas - Whole Foods Market, the country's largest natural and organic foods supermarket, plans to open a 36,000-square-foot store in White Plains, N.Y. next spring.
"For years, we have been delighted to serve the tri-state area with our stores," said Whole Foods Market northeast region president David Lannon. "Since opening our Greenwich store in 1994, we have received thousands of inquiries from Westchester County residents interested in seeing a store open in their area."
The store will be located inside a 270,000-square-foot building developed by R Squared EDGE and anchored by fine jewelry and home furnishings retailer, Fortunoff. When completed, "The Source at White Plains" is expected to create more than 600 permanent jobs.
"I am extremely pleased by the announcement today that Whole Foods Market will join other retailers at the new Fortunoff location. With $1.6 billion of new construction and 1,800 new residences being completed in White Plains, Whole Foods Market will complement the city's lineup of premier quality retailers," said Mayor Joseph Delfino.
The White Plains store will provide a large variety of organically grown produce, natural meats, fresh seafood, natural and organic cheeses, an in-store coffee roaster, and prepared foods created daily by chefs that equal those found in the best restaurants, according to the company. The store will also feature an in-store cafe with Whole Foods Market's salad bar and prepared foods.
Whole Foods Market's "Whole Body" department will feature an extensive selection of natural body and nutrition items.
"At Whole Foods Market, we believe food shopping should be an adventure, not a chore," said Lannon. "At our stores, consumers have a shopping experience, complete with a '101' approach of learning to touch, taste and navigate the world of natural and organic foods. We have done the homework for shoppers and provide them the tools to make choices that meet individual lifestyle needs, by stocking only the highest quality products available."
