Wild Oats Gives Store Brand Vitamins and Supplements to Liberia and Zambia

BOULDER, Colo. -- Natural and organic foods retailer Wild Oats Markets, Inc. yesterday donated $250,000 worth of Wild Oats brand vitamins and supplements to Vitamin Angel Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides health education and nutritional supplements to medically underserved communities around the world.

Through Vitamin Angel Alliance, the Wild Oats donation will aid people who rely on various charitable health care facilities and programs in the countries of Liberia and Zambia. Vitamin Angels selects and identifies countries based on community need.

"Thousands of villagers and children in Liberia and Zambia will benefit from Wild Oats' significant donation," said Howard B. Schiffer, founder and president of Vitamin Angels. "With Wild Oats' assistance, hundreds of children, women, and men will be provided the proper supplements needed to fight malnutrition-linked disease and other preventable illnesses."

The collaborative efforts between Vitamin Angels and Wild Oats cultivated in part through a belief in each organization's mission. "This is a win-win for each entity," said Perry Odak, Wild Oats president and c.e.o. "Wild Oats believes every person should have access to proper nutrition. We are proud to lend our support to Vitamin Angels and supply enriching nutrients to these poverty stricken countries."
