Wild Oats Names Ex-Penn Traffic Exec to Chief Finance Post

BOULDER, Colo. -- National natural and organic foods retailer Wild Oats Markets, Inc. has named former Penn Traffic executive Robert B. Dimond to the position of s.v.p. and c.f.o.

Dimond replaces Edward Dunlap, who has moved to the position of Wild Oats' s.v.p. of operations.

Dimond has over 15 years of financial planning and management experience in the food retail industry. Most recently e.v.p. and c.f.o. for Penn Traffic, Dimond had additionally served as e.v.p., c.f.o., and treasurer for the Nash Finch Co.; and group v.p. and c.f.o. for the Kroger Co.'s Western Region.

"With extensive food retail and financial management experience, Bob is a great addition to the team at a time when the company is exiting its turnaround and entering a period of growth and expansion," said Wild Oats president and c.e.o. Perry Odak in a statement. "Additionally, we thank Ed for his contributions as c.f.o. and look forward to his continued leadership over our company's store operations."

With annual sales of more than $1 billion, Wild Oats currently operates 111 stores in 24 states and British Columbia under such banners as Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, Henry's Farmers Market, Sun Harvest, and Capers Community Markets.

Penn Traffic, which has recently suffered from well-publicized financial problems, just last month emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
