    Retail Foodservice Trends: Majority of Indies, Wholesalers See Growth

    An online survey conducted for the National Grocers Association (NGA) and Hobart Corp. by Cypress Research Associates of wholesalers and independent retailers sought to determine, among other goals, the market size in supermarket deli departments, the growth expected in foodservice offerings, and future plans regarding commercial kitchen equipment.

    An online survey conducted for the National Grocers Association (NGA) and Hobart Corp. by Cypress Research Associates of wholesalers and independent retailers sought to determine, among other goals, the market size in supermarket deli departments, the growth expected in foodservice offerings, and future plans regarding commercial kitchen equipment.

    Among the findings:

    - Fresh Sandwich Program: 83% have one and 51% believe demand will remain the same, while 49% believe it will grow

    - Hot/Cold Prepared Foods Program: 93% have one and 83% believe demand will grow, while 15% believe it will remain the same

    - Rotisserie Chicken Program: 86% have one and 69% believe demand will grow, while 29% believe it will remain the same

    - Pizza program: 40% have one and 57% believe demand will grow, while 43% believe it will remain the same

    - In-Store Restaurant: 11% have one and 60% believe demand will grow, while 40% believe it will remain the same

    - Self-Service Salad Bar Program: 3% have one, and 47% believe demand will grow, while 42% believe it will remain the same
