Retailers Go Green with Fall Grape Promotion

FRESNO, Calif. -- In October and November, grocery retailers will have a chance to win a 2008 Green Line Saturn Vue Hybrid by increasing their sales of fresh California green grapes from last year, courtesy of the California Table Grape Commission (CTGC), based here.

The winner will be selected in a random drawing on Jan. 25, 2008. The drawing, which invites retailers to enter to win the American-made, environmentally friendly automobile, is designed to encourage continued promotions of multiple varieties of fresh California grapes while reminding consumers that the delicious taste and health value doesn’t leave when summer does.

"This is an ideal way to remind retailers and consumers that fresh California grapes aren't just a summer fruit," said Kathleen Nave, CTGC president. The primary requirement for the drawing is a 25 percent increase in California green grape volume sales for October and November 2007 over the same time period in 2006, noted Nave.
