Mike O’Shell has been appointed director of general merchandise and health & beauty care for Rouses Markets. Reporting to Joe Livorsi, Rouses general manager of sales & marketing, O’Shell replaces Dantre Blanchard, who has been assigned to the company’s grocery department headquarters.
O’Shell, who is on the Membership Advisory Board of the Global Marketing Development Center, was previously director of general merchandise and health & beauty care for Syracuse, N.Y.-based Penn Traffic Co., which operates the P&C, Quality and BiLo banners.
“Mike has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and will help us continue on our path to growth,” said Livorsi. “[He] knows the wholesale process inside and out, and has outstanding relationships with the vendor and broker community. He will be a very valuable asset to Rouses.”
Thibodaux, La.-based Rouses is the largest independent grocer in Louisiana. The family-owned and operated company operates 35 stores in south Louisiana and Mississippi.
