    Ruiz Foods’ Tornados FSI Blows Into Stores

    Ruiz Foods, Inc. has launched an FSI brand-awareness promotion in conjunction with the national distribution of Tornados to retail grocery stores and supercenters.

    Ruiz Foods, Inc. has launched an FSI brand-awareness promotion in conjunction with the national distribution of Tornados to retail grocery stores and supercenters. The FSI, which dropped nationally on Sunday, offers a $1-off coupon on an 8.4-ounce box Tornados in any flavor.

    A combination of meats, cheeses and sauces wrapped and sealed in a secret batter, Tornados rolled out five years ago to the convenience store “hot-to-go” consumer and were an instant success. Each Tornado contains zero grams trans fat and can be prepared in either a microwave or a conventional oven. Varieties include Ranchero Beef & Cheese, Grilled Chicken & Cheese, Cheesy Pepper Jack Tornados and Cheesy Pepperoni.

    “For some time now, our ‘hot-to-go’ consumer has been encouraging us to make it possible for them to purchase Tornados at their local grocery store,” noted Bryce Ruiz, president and CEO of Dinuba, Calif.-based Ruiz Foods. “’We want to be able to enjoy Tornados at home, too’ is what they tell us via our Web site or during consumer focus groups. Consumers agree it is the convenience, value, great taste and quality ingredients of our Tornados that have made them extremely popular for all eating occasions.”
