Rutter's Stores Pilot Skyline Fuel Pricing Software

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Rutter's Farm Stores, operator of 51 convenience stores based here, is trialing Skyline Electronic Pricing Solutions' PriceAdvantage Central Control Fuel Pricing Software at its stores.

Using the software, Rutter's will be able to simultaneously update fuel pricing at their price displays, point-of-sale (POS) systems and pumps, from the company's central headquarters.

"Using PriceAdvantage, our customers can optimize and remotely execute their fuel pricing strategy," Greg Stadjuhar, Skyline vice president of sales and marketing, said in a written statement. "No matter the volatility of the market, no matter the size of the chain, PriceAdvantage enables progressive petroleum marketers like Rutter's the ability to instantly react to competitive market changes."

The PriceAdvantage system provides up-to-the-minute data of the competitive landscape for select stores. Rutter's store managers will utilize an in-store touch screen device to input competitors' price updates, which are instantly sent to the corporate office. Then, updates are used to generate new price proposals based on Rutter's business rules, which will be rolled out at each store's POS, pumps and gas price signs.

"We have purchased electronic price signs for all our stores in anticipation of piloting the PriceAdvantage software. We expect to work with Skyline to enhance the software to help us manage our retail price management strategies in these volatile markets of today," Scott Hartman, president of Rutter's, said in a written statement. "Skyline has proven to be a valuable partner in developing this end solution."
