The R.W. Knudsen Family brand will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2011 with a variety of promotions for its customers.
A limited run of 5,000 specially designed commemorative 750-milliliter bottles of sparkling Concord grape juice were given away via the brand’s Facebook and Twitter pages in November.
A 50th anniversary consumer promotion will award a trip to Napa Valley to denote the brand’s beginnings at an organic grape orchard in nearby Paradise, Calif. The promotion will be advertised at the retail level with specially marked neck hangers, a major digital advertising program, sampling events across the country and radio campaigns in San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Chicago and Boston. Sweepstakes winners will be announced next summer.
Prizes will be distributed throughout 2011 from the brand’s Facebook page and website, including products and 50th anniversary 2011 calendars paying tribute to the brand’s heritage.
At its website, the brand will offer 50 healthy living tips, in addition to an historic company timeline and video.
The beverage landscape has changed dramatically since 1961, when Russel W. Knudsen and his family began bottling fruit juices at their organic grape vineyard in Paradise, Calif. Continuing that leadership position as other beverage companies have raced to embrace consumers’ thirst for healthier products, R.W. In 1997, R.W. Knudsen Family became the first certified organic processing facility in the United States.
To minimize its environmental footprint, the manufacturing facility utilizes clean, renewable energy sources, including two solar arrays, and was awarded LEED Gold certification in 2010 for its newly constructed 157,000-square-foot warehouse in Chico, Calif.
In advance of R.W. Knudsen Family’s anniversary, the brand partnered with the organization Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) to donate $13,420 and 10,000 Sensible Sipper juice boxes through a Facebook campaign which ran in November.
