Safeway and Cargill Add Grilling to ABC's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway Inc. here and Cargill Meat Solutions teamed up with ABC reality TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", transforming the backyard of a remodeled Delaware home into a grillmaster's dream.

The two companies' contribution to the makeover was a stainless-steel backyard grill for the duplex home, accompanied by a $1,000 gift card for Safeway's consumer brand Rancher's Reserve steaks.

"The centerpiece to the backyard is a brand-new barbecue grill for the families to enjoy for years to come," said Steve Neibergall, Safeway Eastern Division president. "We heard the oldest son of one family would make good use of the grill and the steaks we've provided for the families. We welcome the chance to help these remarkable families with the grill and steaks."

The makeovers were completed February 12, and the show will air this spring.

In addition to the backyard grill and Rancher's Reserve gift card, Safeway and Cargill served 300 volunteers working on the remodel Rancher's Reserve New York strip steak dinners.

Safeway's Eastern Division employs approximately 18,000 people and operates 178 stores, including five in Delaware.
