Salada Seeks First-ever Consumer Spokesperson

To spread its “Unbottle Your Tea” message, Salada Tea has begun a nationwide search for the brand’s first-ever consumer spokesperson. In addition to representing the brand, the chosen spokesperson will also earn $10,000.

Through June 13, 2010, tea lovers who lead a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle and want to help others do likewise can tell Salada why they would be the perfect spokesperson by filling out an application form and submitting a video entry running no longer than 30 seconds at www.unbottleyourtea.com/spokesperson.

The spokesperson’s duties will include attending health and environmentally focused events across the United States, and disseminate the “Unbottle Your Tea” philosophy by such methods as blogging and tweeting.

Salada will evaluate all submissions for quality, and the top 10 finalists will be revealed on June 28. The video submissions of the finalists will be posted on Salada’s YouTube channel, where consumers will be able to vote for their favorite. Public voting will take place from June 28 to Aug. 1 at www.YouTube.com/SaladaTea. Based on results of the online voting and overall job suitability, Salada will name the winner in August 2010.

The contest is open to legal U.S. residents 18 and older, and no purchase is necessary to enter.

The brand rolled out the “Unbottle Your Tea” campaign in September 2008 to urge consumers to opt for freshly brewed tea as a healthier, more cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to bottled tea. Compared with bottled tea, freshly brewed tea made with tea bags has 95 percent more antioxidants, is less expensive and can help reduce the 135 million beverage containers wasted each year. The campaign additionally backs the Bottle Recycling Climate Protection Act, which would require a five-cent deposit on all beverage containers, including bottled tea and water.

Salada is manufactured by Redco Foods, Inc. at its Little Falls, N.Y., operations facility.
