Save Mart Turns Checkstand Belts Into Eye-Catching Promos

Regional independent Save Mart Supermarkets is deploying a new promotional marketing system that turns the belts of checkstands into advertisements at its Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx bannered stores.

Regional independent Save Mart Supermarkets is deploying a new promotional marketing system that turns the belts of checkstands into advertisements at its Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx bannered stores.

The grocer is using Salinas, Calif.-based Devlin Media’s Convey-Your-Ad solution, an advertising platform that allows advertisers, marketers and grocery store owners to apply high-quality graphics to checkstand conveyor belts at the grocery store. Devlin has developed a proprietary printing application process compatible with commercially available checkstands. Besides providing advertisers with a new media space, the new belts are durable and long-lasting, according to the vendor.

“We at Save Mart have always been known for being innovative and thinking outside the box,” said John Kelly, VP of marketing for the Modesto, Calif.-based grocer. “We continuously seek new opportunities to engage our customers. The Convey-Your-Ad gives us yet another opportunity to catch the shopper’s eye at the point of purchase.”

Devlin Media said that Convey-Your-Ad will be the exclusive advertising agent on the belts at the checkstands of all the stores owned and operated by the food retailer.

Save Mart operates more than 240 stores throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx banners.
