Schnucks, Clorox Team to Raise Money for Operation Food Search

ST. LOUIS -- Schnuck Markets, Inc. here and Clorox are working together to help raise $12,000 in funds for St. Louis-based Operation Food Search (OFS), via a "Stock Up, Help Out" consumer campaign.

Schnucks is the area's leading donor to Operation Food Search, contributing more than 3.3 million pounds of food in 2006.

"We are grateful to Clorox and to our customers for their support of the 'Stock Up' program," said Schnucks category manager Steve Fahrig. "Their contributions will go a long way toward helping the agencies of Operation Food Search bring food to the tables of families in our community."

The fundraising drive, which ran from April 30, 2007 to June 3, 2007, was tied to specific Clorox products that offered a 25-cent donation to OFS with each purchase.

Established in 1981 to address the growing problem of hunger, Operation Food Search has become the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area helping to feed the region's poor. Operation Food Search distributes more than one million pounds of food and household items to 300 community partner agencies that in turn feed 100,000 poor people every single month. Nearly half the recipients are children. The OFS service area includes 30 Illinois and Missouri counties surrounding the city of St. Louis.

Schnuck Markets Inc. operates 101 stores (including five Logli stores) and 98 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
