Shaw's, Irving Oil Helping Consumers Save on Gas

Shaw's Supermarkets and partner Irving Oil have rolled out a program that will double the value of gas discount coupons earned at participating Shaw's Supermarkets throughout the New England region.

The program, "Double Fuel Rewards," runs until May 22, allowing travelers to fill their gas tanks for the Memorial Day weekend.

Customers can shop with their Shaw's Rewards Card and spend the same amount to earn further savings at a participating Irving location, Shaw's said. Those without Rewards Cards can apply for them by going to any Shaw's store.

Coupons once worth a maximum discount of 60 cents off each gallon of gas at the pump will now have a value $1.20 off each gallon -- up to 20 gallons for each gas purchase.

All coupons can be redeemed at participating Irving locations up to June 5. The program is available at 63 Shaw's Supermarkets and participating Irving locations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

"New Englanders will be on the move this year, planning picnics, outings, and barbecues," noted Harry Hadiaris, director of convenience retail at Portsmouth, N.H.-based Irving Oil. "Purchasing your groceries, beverages and deli items at Shaw's and then fueling up at Irving are the perfect steps toward having a great get-together with family and friends."

Hadiaris added that any coupon, including Double Rewards coupons, earned since March 14 can be combined so the customer can receive maximum savings.
