Shaw's Launches Wellness Program Tied to Loyalty

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. here is set to roll out a Shaw's Wellbeing tie-in to its customer loyalty program, featuring a wellness coach who will visit stores regularly and dispense health and nutrition advice in person and online. Loyalty members who sign up for the Wellbeing program will have recipes, discounts and coupons tailored for them, tied to the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, Shaw's said on its Web site.

The retailer said the wellness coach, Miclyne Schaefer, will help shoppers strike "a balance in all of the important areas of living," including good health, fitness and nutrition choices, cooking and entertaining, and personal style.

The program will additionally feature Wellbeing Center in-store sections offering better-for-you products and nutrition information. Other program elements include weekly circulars with practical messages and tips from Schaefer; a new Shaw's Wellbeing magazine.

A division of Supervalu, Shaw's operates 209 grocery stores in New England.
