ShopRite to Host ‘Grand Tasting’ at Wine & Food Festival

Grocer’s exclusive specialty products will again be featured

For the sixth year, ShopRite, in its role as a presenting sponsor, will host The Grand Tasting Presented by ShopRite at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival.

Slated to take place Oct. 19-20, this year’s festival has relocated to a Pier 92/94, at 55th Street and the West Side Highway. Proceeds from the event will once more aid hunger relief initiatives through the Food Bank for New York City and Share Our Strength’s “No Kid Hungry” campaign.

The Grand Tasting not only features ShopRite’s line of limited-edition specialty products, but also offers attendees dishes from the city’s best-known restaurants, as well as the products of internationally famous wine and spirit makers.

ShopRite customers receive a 10 percent discount on The Grand Tasting tickets when they present their Price Plus Club Cards at checkout. Tickets are available online.

The Grand Tasting also offers ticket-holders the chance to meet members of ShopRite’s Potluck blogger panel, who will be posting live from the event and swapping cooking tips and recipes with attendees. Representing the six states in which Keasbey, N.J.-based retail cooperative Wakefern Food Corp. has stores under the ShopRite banner – New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland), Potluck is a community of writers on ShopRite.com who contribute recipes, reviews and cooking demonstrations using ShopRite private label products.

Attendees will also sample exclusive recipes by Lynn Logg, ShopRite’s corporate executive chef and head of ShopRite’s Culinary Workshop. The recipes will feature such ingredients as ShopRite’s Black Bear brand of European-style hot dogs, meats and cheeses.

The New York City Wine & Food Festival is hosted by The Food Network, and Food &Wine and Travel and Leisure magazines. To date, it has raised more than $5 million to help fight hunger.
