SIAL 2012 Exhibition Returns to Paris

The SIAL 2012 international food exhibition, held Oct. 21-25 at the Parc des Expositions de paris-Nord Villeprinte convention centre in Paris, France, brought together thousands of exhibitors and trade and retail visitors from the food manufacturing and foodservice industries, thanks to the impetus of XTC World Innovation, TNS Sofres and the 29 SIAL d’Or partners.

In the current economic climate, the exhibition’s strategic dimension – demonstrated by the 200 events and conferences at the heart of today’s economic and political preoccupations – undoubtedly left its mark. Guillaume Garrot, French deputy minister of Agri-food, noteworthy for his daily involvement, together with numerous ministers and political and scientific personalities, opened the debate on key issues relating to the future of the food industry in France: food challenge, anti-waste programme announcement, Made in France, nutrition, among others. The 2012 show, fully attuned to the mainstream market challenges, highlighted the dynamism of the agri-food industry on a global scale.

“Our aim was to strengthen the proximity between the sector players present.  It’s now ‘mission accomplished,’” said Valérie Lobry, managing director of Comexposium's Agriculture and Food Industry Division. “SIAL played a pivotal role with a view to the challenges of today and the issues of tomorrow.”

Attendance at the SIAL 2012 exhibition rose 10.2 percent compared to 2012, including 150,192 professional visitors, of whom 62.8 percent were international visitors from 200 countries.
