Stater Bros. Charities Raises $331K to Fight Blood Cancers

Stater Bros. Charities and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have raised more than $331,000 with their “Light The Night” fundraising campaign to raise awareness and funds against Leukemia, Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Myeloma and Myelodysplastic Syndromes.

“The Stater Bros. Supermarket Family is very happy to give back by hosting the paper balloon program in all our stores,” said Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets. “It is imperative that we join in the fight to find a cure.”

Each year during the month of June, Stater Bros.’ customers can purchase $1 paper balloons at checkout to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and over the past six years the grocer has raised more than $1.8 million. The funds raised during the campaign directly benefit the Southern California communities that are served by Stater Bros. Supermarkets in the form of educational programs, financial aid, family support groups and first connection programs.

In addition to the campaign, Stater Bros. Charities partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at its annual “Light The Night” Walk at Angel Stadium which this year will be held Saturday, Sept. 28. The walk will honor those who have been affected by blood cancers, those who will walk in memory of someone who has lost their battle with blood cancer, and those who have a family member or friend who is currently battling the disease.
