Stater Bros. Pitches in for American Heart Association

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- West Coast retailer Stater Bros. here is partnering with the American Heart Association during the month of February -- National Heart Month -- to help fight heart disease and stroke. All 164 Stater Bros. supermarkets are conducting the "Have A Heart, Save A Heart" campaign to raise money for the association.

Stater Bros.' customers can participate by purchasing red paper hearts for $1 each and gold paper hearts for $5 each. The paper hearts are scannable at the register, and will be added to the customer's total bill and shown on the receipt for easy recordkeeping. Customers are welcome to sign their name or the name of a loved one on the hearts, which will be displayed inside the store.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Stater Bros. has participated in an in-store campaign to benefit the American Heart Association. Have A Heart, Save A Heart is the largest campaign of this type in the American Heart Association's Western States Affiliate. To date, customers and employees of Stater Bros. have raised nearly $1.5 million to support research and provide programs to educate the communities served by Stater Bros. about the risks of heart disease and stroke.
