Stater Bros. Raising Funds for Fire-Ravaged SoCal

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Supermarkets and its employees are collaborating with a local news station to raise funds for the Southern California wildfires relief effort, the grocer said on Friday.

KCAL-9/CBS-2 news vans were scheduled to be stationed in the parking lots of four Stater Bros. Supermarkets from 5:00 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. on both Friday, Oct. 26, and today, to collect monetary donations.

Funds from the drive will be donated to the American Red Cross. Also assisting in the effort is the California Highway Patrol.

In addition, Stater Bros. said it has donated $20,000 for fire relief to the Community Foundation of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. This matches the same amount donated by each of the cities of San Bernardino and Riverside. The company has also donated truckloads of drinking water, food, and snacks to evacuation centers at the National Orange Show Fairgrounds and Rim of the World High School.

Stater Bros. is the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California. The company operates 164 supermarkets.
