Stemilt Taps 'Savory Simple' Blogger

Stemilt Growers is teaming up with Jennifer Farley of Savory Simple, a food blog centered on original recipes inspired by fresh ingredients, to promote Stemilt apples, pears, cherries and summer fruits to foodies. In addition to partnering on upcoming Savory Simple posts, Stemilt named Farley the winner of its #FreshBloggers contest and will be sending her to a top food blogger contest in 2014.

Farley is a culinary school graduate turned food photographer and blogger, who is an active participant in social media. In fact, her @savorysimple account was recently named one of 75 Tasty Instagram Accounts to Follow by Mashable. She’s also been featured in a variety of food publications including The Kitchn and Bon Appetit.

The Wenatchee, Wash.-based company has been engaging more with food bloggers about its fruits over the past year to reach consumers. “People want to know where their food comes from, how it is grown, and who is growing it," notes Stemilt Communications Manager Brianna Shales. "Partnering with influential bloggers like Jennifer helps us tell our story and also showcase how people can utilize our fruits both at home and on-the-go.”

For her part, Farley is pumped about her new alliance with Stemilt Growers. "As a recipe developer and food photographer, I love nothing more than working with fresh, whole ingredients. And as a blogger and social media influencer, I feel I have a responsibility to teach people about the health and environmental benefits of eating real food. We live in a society filled with boxed cake mixes and frozen dinners. It's time to return to wholesome, simple ingredients,” said Farley.

The visual appeal of the food on Savory Simple, and Farley’s engaging, precise way of explaining the process to make a recipe was exactly what Stemilt hoped for when looking for a blogger to partner with, Shales said.

“One look at Jennifer’s original recipes and photos was enough to take pause on her blog and know that she would make a great partner for Stemilt,” said Shales. “She’s passionate about using fresh ingredients in her recipes and gifted at combining unique flavors without losing the integrity of the ingredient. I can’t wait to see how our fruits, like Piñata! apples, inspire her and a new dish.”

In addition to partnering with bloggers, Stemilt has continued engaging with consumers through social media. The company’s blog (The Stem) has quickly become a source for consumers to learn more about fresh fruit, while free Stemilt downloads like this Apple & Pear Baking Guide provides inspiration for using Stemilt fruits at home. Stemilt continues to expand its reach on Facebook, and will host a #FreshStem Twitter party on Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m. EST.

“Social media is a fun and effective way for us to engage directly with consumers. It allows us to share our knowledge of fruits, but also learn how people enjoy fruit and what they want to see from us in the future,” said Shales.
