The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. will shutter its store at 60 Broadway in Malden, Mass., on or before Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.
“We consistently review our stores in each market area,” noted Judi Palmer, director of marketing and external communication at Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop/New England Division. “At this time, we feel that we can continue to serve the Malden community with the additional store in Malden as well as stores in the surrounding locations” of Revere, Mass.; 99 Charles Street in Malden; Everett, Mass.; and Medford, Mass.
Associates Offered Other Positions
Added Palmer: “We will make the transition for our customers and associates as smooth as possible. We have notified our associates and will begin alerting customers immediately. All associates currently employed at this store will be offered positions at other stores.”
She further noted that the Ahold USA division “remains committed to the Malden community, and we will continue to support residents as we have at our other location.”
Stop & Shop operates more than 375 stores throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey, employing 59,000 associates.
