Stop & Shop Recalls Prepared Chicken on Listeria Risk

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. has issued a recall of four varieties of prepared chicken because they might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected products were sold at the deli counter in Shop & Stop stores, both in bulk and prepackaged in various weights said the chain in Quincy, Mass.

The recall covers all of the following items sold on or after Feb. 26: Breaded Chicken Cutlet (labeled GB BRD CHIX CUTLETS or GB BR CHIX CUTLETS), Chicken Marsala (labeled GB CHIX MARSALA), Grilled Lemon Chicken (labeled GB GR LEMON CHIX or GB GR LNI CHCKN), and Grilled Teriyaki Chicken (labeled GB GR TERIYKI CHIX or GB GR TRYKI CHICKN).

After being notified by the supplier of a risk of contamination, Stop & Shop said it immediately removed all of the recalled products from sale. To date, there have been no reported illnesses linked to consumption of the products.
