Subway Cards Now Available at Stores

MILFORD, Conn. -- Launched over a year ago, the Subway Card, an easy, convenient way for consumers to pay for their meals, is now available at retailers across the United States and Canada, according to Subway.

The cards are at grocers HEB, Winn-Dixie, Schnuck Markets, and Brookshire Brothers, as well as Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite Aid, the Army-Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to authorized patrons only, Fifth Third Bank, Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Long's Drugs, Kerr Drug, Hastings, in the United States. In Canada they are at American Greetings, Glentel, Pharmacy 1, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Launches in the coming months will include Wal-Mart, Jean Coutu, and Familiprix in Canada, Subway said.

Subway's Independent Purchasing Cooperativ handled the agreements with the retailers on behalf of Subway restaurant franchisees. The cards are available at retailers through a distribution agreement with InComm, a provider of third-party gift cards and prepaid products.

The reusable and reloadable cards can be as a gift or personal spending card, as well as for incentives and awards. They can be activated in-store by choosing a dollar amount between $5 and $100 to activate. Cards bought at retail outlets come with preset dollar amounts.

Subway is the world's largest submarine sandwich franchise, with over 28,000 locations in 86 countries.
