Supervalu Works with Food for All on Holiday Hunger Initiative

MINNEAPOLIS - Supervalu here said it is continuing its commitment to raise awareness and support hunger relief efforts this holiday season via a point-of-sale program, in a hunger initiative partnership with Food for All.

The program, available at Acme, Albertsons, bigg's, Bristol Farms, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher's, Jewel-Osco, Save-A-Lot, Scott's, Shaw's, Shoppers Food & Pharmacy and Shop 'n Save, allows shoppers to select a special donation coupon near the check-out stand, representing varying donation increments of $1, $3 and $5.

The coupon is then run through the point-of-sale, making it convenient for shoppers to donate during a daily or weekly grocery shopping trip.

Proceeds from the program, which runs through Jan. 1, benefit local soup kitchens, food banks, and other charitable organizations that provide hunger relief within Supervalu store communities.

Supervalu said it annually provides more than $100 million in cash and in-kind donations with support focused on hunger relief, education, the development of youth, workforce development, social service and promotion of the arts.
