    Sweetbay Taps HEB Exec as Marketing V.P.

    TAMPA, Fla. -- Sweetbay Supermarket here revealed yesterday that it has tapped Paul Sabattus, an industry veteran from H.E. Butt Grocery Co., as v.p. of marketing, responsible for brand management and positioning, consumer outreach, and strategic marketing initiatives.

    TAMPA, Fla. -- Sweetbay Supermarket here revealed yesterday that it has tapped Paul Sabattus, an industry veteran from H.E. Butt Grocery Co., as v.p. of marketing, responsible for brand management and positioning, consumer outreach, and strategic marketing initiatives.

    While the chain, part of the Delhaize Group, made Sabattus' appointment public yesterday, the executive joined the company in July 2007. He replaced Sweetbay's former v.p. of marketing, Steve Smith, who switched over to the role of v.p. of merchandising in August 2006.

    Sabattus has more than 30 years of experience in all functions of retail, including operations, new store openings, market research, and associate development, according to Sweetbay. At HEB, he served as director of sales and marketing for the Houston Division, where he was responsible for the marketing, merchandising, and advertising strategy for the company's largest region.
