Wegmans Food Markets will sample many of the dishes featured in the winter 2013 issue of Wegmans Menu magazine on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. As well as tasting the food and voting for the best dish to serve a crowd for the big game, customers at the event can pick up coupons as an added incentive to prepare some of the dishes at home.

“Traditionally, the winter issue of Wegmans Menu magazine puts the accent on healthier dishes with plenty of vegetables and fruit, and cooking techniques that capture all the taste and goodness these foods can offer,” noted Jane Andrews, nutrition and product labeling manager at Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans. “Our customers want it all -- safe, affordable food that’s good for their family and good for the earth. Our collection of recipes provides sensible solutions for folks inspired by the plant-based approach.”

Sampling stations will include Organic Roasted Tomato Soup, Beef Chili versus Chicken Sausage Gumbo, Sesame Chicken with Lo Mein & Green Beans, Pan-Seared Salmon with Citrus Soy Sauce, Whole Wheat Mini Apple Pie with Vanilla or Cinnamon Ice Cream, California Skinny Wraps Sushi, “Don’t Be Chicken” Meatless Nuggets with Sesame Garlic Sauce, and Potato Gnocchi with Porcini Mushroom and Truffle Finishing Butter.

Family-owned Wegmans operates 81 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
