PrintSave-A-Lot Opening 13 New Stores in 4 States

St. Louis-based Save-A-Lot, the hard-discounter subsidiary of Supervalu Inc., is opening 13 new stores over the next two months in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

“We are excited to be opening more Save-A-Lot locations to meet the needs of consumers looking for access to affordable, high-quality food, fresh produce and meat, as well as other grocery items,” said Santiago Roces, Save-A-Lot CEO and president. “With food costs on the rise, Save-A-Lot is an ideal solution for customers looking to save money on their grocery bills.”

The stores in Auburn, Holley and Hamburg, N.Y., bring Save-A-Lot’s total in the Empire State to 52 locations. Including these locations, Save-A-Lot has opened seven new stores in New York over the past year, creating more than 260 new jobs.

Save-A-Lot’s new Ohio locations are coming to Wadsworth, Cincinnati and Columbus, bringing the total number of its stores in the state to 128. Along with these stores and a Cleveland location opened last month, Save-A-Lot has added 14 new stores and more than 300 new jobs to the Buckeye State.

The chain will have 76 stores in Pennsylvania with the opening of new stores in Tyrone, Meadville, Erie and Peckville, along with stores opened last month in Upper Darby and Clearfield. In the past year, Save-A-Lot has brought 11 new stores and more than 240 new jobs to the Keystone State.

Finally, Woodbury, Nashville and Chattanooga are the locations of Save-A-Lot’s newest stores in Tennessee. That makes 108 Save-A-Lot locations in the Volunteer State, which has seen the chain bring six new stores and more than 130 new jobs in the past year.

Save-A-Lot offers savings of up to 40 percent on groceries, compared to traditional grocery stores. Each Save-A-Lot store carries a carefully selected assortment of up to 1,500 of the most popular, in-demand everyday grocery essentials, produce, meats, dairy products, bakery goods, shelf-ready and frozen foods, household goods, pet food, baby, and health and beauty care products. Save-A-Lot stores, which average about 15,000 square feet, feature private brands including Save-A-Lot Today, Coburn Farms and Tipton Grove.

Save-A-Lot operates more than 1,300 stores in 39 states from Maine to California.
