Save Mart agreed has agreed to a short extension with UFCW Locals 5, 8, and 648 which will last through July 10.

As part of the agreement to the extension, a Federal mediator will be brought in to help resolve any remaining differences.

“A labor strike is not beneficial for our company or our associates, and that an agreement must be reached quickly. We strongly anticipate an agreement can be reached which will provide job security for our associates, more opportunity for hours, and allow our Company to stay competitive in the retail food marketplace,” the company said.

Modesto, calif.-based Save Mart operates 228 stores in Northern California and Northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, Maxx Value Foods, and FoodMaxx banners.
