Allegiance Retail Services has named grocery industry veteran Raymond Donnelly to the position of director of meat and seafood.

Beginning his career at Kings Super Markets more than 30 years ago, Donnelly (left) later joined Pathmark, where he rose through the ranks to the position of senior category manager for beef, lamb, pork and veal. In 2006, he moved to The Food Emporium division of Montvale, N.J.-based A&P as director of meat and seafood. Earlier this year, Donnelly joined New York metro-area grocer Fairway Markets, where he held the position of director of meat and seafood.

“Ray’s previous record of success, coupled with his extensive background in merchandising, ad development and creating store-level training and development programs, will be invaluable as we continue our expansion into the independent marketplace,” said Alliance president and COO Michael Stolarz.

Iselin, N.J.-based Allegiance supports its independent grocer members by providing them with marketing, advertising, technological and operational support, as well as a full line of Foodtown private label products.
