More Bozzuto's-supplied Stores Join IGA
CHICAGO - IGA here yesterday said that 47 stores supplied by Bozzuto's, Inc., the Cheshire, Conn.-based wholesale food distributor, have been added to the IGA system over the last two months. The stores are located throughout IGA's Northeast region in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
Fifteen of the new stores will fly the IGA Express banner, a convenience-oriented store format of 8,000 square feet or less that debuted in 2003.
"Bozzuto's has been a long and loyal supporter of IGA," said George Motel, executive v.p. of retail development for Bozzuto's. "We are quite pleased that as we grow, we are able to continue growing the IGA banner in the markets we serve."
"We are thrilled about the new growth Bozzuto's has helped spark in our Northeast region," said Bill Benzing, executive v.p. and chief growth officer. "The fact that each of these stores will be supplied by Bozzuto's, one of our oldest and strongest licensed distribution companies, speaks volumes about the company's dedication to IGA. There is no doubt that these new IGA retailers will be well served by their relationship with this superior distributor. We'd like to thank Bozzuto's for setting the pace for the rest of the country in what is sure to be a year of record growth for IGA."
IGA is the world's largest voluntary supermarket network, with aggregate worldwide retail sales of more than $21 billion per year. It includes more than 4,000 Hometown Proud Supermarkets worldwide, supported by 36 distribution companies, and more than 55 major manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers encompassing everything from grocery to equipment items.
