Food Circus Exec to Receive Good Gov't Award

PrintFood Circus Exec to Receive Good Gov't Award

Phil Scaduto, VP, administration & marketing at Middletown, N.J.-based Food Circus Supermarkets, will receive the 2010 Food Council Committee for Good Government (FCCfGG) Award at the 37th Annual Good Government Breakfast, scheduled to take place at the Woodbridge Hilton, Iselin, N.J., on Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. The annual award honors an individual who demonstrates the spirit of public policy leadership and effective government advocacy.

Scaduto is receiving the award for his service as vice chairman of the New Jersey Food Council (NJFC). “Phil is one of our most active members, especially in the public policy forum,” noted NJFC president Linda Doherty. “His tireless work helping to offer commonsense solutions to prevent plastic bag mandates and increase consumer education was vital to the industry during this economic downturn.”

During the event, the FCCfGG Board of Governors will present Thomas W. Kelly Government Service Award, named to honor the memory of a longtime NJFC consultant, to New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno for her considerable role in creating and implementing the Red Tape Review Commission. “As leader of the bipartisan group tasked with cutting through New Jersey’s bureaucratic red tape, [Guadagno] helped to bring to light issues of direct importance to the industry, such as motor fuel coupons and overbearing dairy enforcement,” said Doherty.

Additionally, Outstanding Legislator Awards will go to State Sen. Michael Doherty and Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who have distinguished themselves as pro-business proponents and grocery industry allies during this legislative session.

The Good Government Breakfast provides an opportunity for New Jersey food industry representatives to sit down with federal, state and local officials, policy makers and legislators to discuss key issues.

Tickets to the event are available by calling the NJFC at 609-392-8899.
