IFS Certification has Significant Impact on Food Recalls
Food recalls have dropped up to 17 percent among companies with International Featured Standards (IFS) certification, a new study has found.
Berlin-based IFS recently conducted a study performed by the University of Rostock in Rostock, Germany, to determine the success of food-processing companies that have achieved IFS certification. The results provided a look into the key measures of food safety and quality from the supplier’s point of view.
Statistics derived from the survey also included the following:
-Company complaints related to food safety and quality were reduced by up to 27 percent
“These are dramatic results we are seeing in companies who have chosen IFS as their food safety and quality standard,” said Stephan Tromp, IFS managing director. “As we continue to expand the IFS brand globally, retailers and their suppliers can have added confidence in the products we offer and the high level of integrity upon which the standards are developed.”
Survey results confirm that companies choosing IFS as their food safety certification see an improvement in many areas of their processing, and ultimately the company’s bottom line.
IFS Food is a global uniform quality-assurance and food-safety standard accepted under the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
