PrintWinCo to Open 3 New Stores

By Joseph Tarnowski

Regional independent WinCo Foods, LLC opened three new discount supermarkets this past weekend in Tracy, Calif., Lacey, Wash., and Everett, Wash.

The stores range in size from over 96,000 square feet in Tracy to over 119,000 square feet in Everett, and will initially employ over 600 individuals collectively, most of whom have been hired from each local market area.

"We invite everyone to come in to see what makes WinCo Foods unique as our employee owners work hard to help everyone save money on their grocery purchases," said Michael Read, company spokesperson.

WinCo is an employee owned company with the mission of being the everyday supermarket low price leader in each market it serves. Tracy store manager Chris Wimpheimer has been with WinCo for 16 years, and has worked in five different WinCo stores. He transfers to Tracy from Brentwood, Calif. Lacey store manager Dana Lem is an eight year Winco veteran, and has worked in three previous stores. She transfers to Lacey from Puyallup, Wash. Everett store manager Kathy Johnson has worked for WinCo for 12 years in five previous stores and comes to Everett from Perris, Calif.

Each new store will feature WinCo's "Wall of Values" offering special low pricing on a wide variety of popular items. The stores feature a large fresh produce department, full-service seafood and meat, deli, and bakery service departments, and a large bulk foods department.

Boise, Idaho-based WinCo Foods operates 78 stores and 4 distribution centers in the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Utah.
