Tops Markets, LLC said yesterday it has named Patrick Curran s.v.p., sales and merchandising, to handle the sales, merchandising, and marketing functions for the Williamsville, N.Y.-based grocery chain.
The areas Curran oversees at Tops include product assortment, category development, retail pricing, loyalty marketing, advertising, community relations, fuel stations, food safety, sourcing, and logistics and supply chain.
“Pat’s marketing and merchandising expertise, coupled with his vast knowledge of the grocery retail industry, makes him a natural fit within our organization,” said Tops president and c.e.o. Frank Curci.
Curran’s most recent industry experience was as v.p. of procurement and logistics for Romeoville, Ill.-based Kehe Food Distributors, where he was responsible for global sourcing, procurement, supply chain, and customer logistics for 38,000 products originating from various parts of the world.
Before that, he was s.v.p. of sales and marketing for Mauldin, S.C.-based Bi-Lo supermarkets, and has additionally served as s.v.p. of mergers and acquisition integration for Quincy, Mass.-based Ahold USA, s.v.p. of marketing and distribution for the now-defunct Mobile, Ala.-based Delchamps chain, and s.v.p. of sales and marketing for Pittsburgh’s Acme Markets.
Tops operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets.
