Tops Promotes 8 Grocery Vets Across Organization

Tops Markets, LLC yesterday revealed new assignments for veteran eight associates who will lead initiatives and operations crucial to the grocer's growth and success.

The chain said it named Karl Oesterle director of advertising; Ken Schaeffer, director of finance and budgets; Kristine Wydro, director of human resources; Frank Wolff, director of pharmacy; Gary Geitter, director of asset protection; Dave Bordonaro, director of non-perishables; Jim Lane, director of meat and seafood; and Katie McKenna, manager of communications and public relations.

"[T]hese eight highly qualified associates…are very important to key areas of our operations, and this team of leaders has proven that they will perform well," said Frank Curci, c.e.o. of Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops. "Together they offer more than 150 years of experience working for Tops Markets, and they are highly respected within our company."

Oesterle has been with Tops for eight years. As director of advertising, he will handle all aspects of advertising for Tops, including the weekly ad, development of in-store promotional signage, Web site marketing, and TV, radio and newspaper advertising.

Schaeffer has been with Tops Markets for 18 years. As director of finance and budgets, he will be responsible for the company's financials, including budgeting, financial forecasting, financial reporting, and capital investment analysis.

Wydro has over 15 years of experience at Tops. As director of human resources, she will oversee corporate employment, labor relations, associate relations, organizational effectiveness, and management development and training.

Wolff has been with Tops for nine years. As director of pharmacy, he will guide all aspects of daily pharmacy operations, among them overseeing pharmacy specialists, recruiters, pharmacy system manager, and systems administrators.

Geitter is a 35-year Tops associate of Tops. His new responsibilities as director of asset protection include oversight of the protection of corporate and store assets.

Bordonaro has been with Tops for 34 years. As director of non-perishables, he will manage and direct the sales and category functions for all grocery, general merchandise, HBC, dairy, and frozen food departments, including supply chain and merchandising services.

Lane has over 30 years of experience at Tops. As director of meat and seafood, he will oversee all aspects of the meat and seafood departments at the company.

McKenna has been with Tops for almost three years. As manager of communications and public relations, she will be responsible for ensuring that the Tops brand is represented positively throughout the community, media and industry. She will also handle all internal communications and events among Tops associates.

The new assignments are effective immediately.

With over 10,000 associates, Tops operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets.
