Tops Taps Darrington as C.F.O.
Tops Markets, LLC has hired Kevin Darrington as s.v.p. and c.f.o. In his new role, Darrington will direct, control, and coordinate all finance and information technology activities for Tops, supporting the grocer's continued growth and independence from its former owner, Ahold USA.
"Kevin brings 18 years of retail finance experience and a broad knowledge base to the table," noted Tops president and c.e.o. Frank Curci in a statement. "He will be an important member of the executive team."
Morgan Stanley Private Equity purchased Tops last December, and appointed Tops veteran Curci president and c.e.o. soon after.
A CPA, Darrington most recently served as s.v.p. and chief accounting officer at Carteret, N.J.-based Pathmark Stores, Inc. There, he oversaw all accounting functions, including U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, and income tax and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Before joining Pathmark, he was c.f.o. at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, Inc. in Boulder, Colo., and worked for Foot Locker, Inc. for seven years, including three years as v.p. and corporate controller, managing the company's Worldwide Financial Service.
Williamsville, NY-based Tops has over 10,000 associates and operates 71 supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets in New York and Pennsylvania.
