MONROVIA, Calif. - Trader Joe's is getting its shoppers involved in its marketing communication efforts with a contest launched yesterday to write the perfect caption for its quarterly newsletter, the "Fearless Flyer."
In an email sent out to its subscriber base, the retailer displayed a cartoon that will be featured in its Fearless Flyer Summer Guide, and invited readers to create a caption for it. The caption "must pertain to Trader Joe's and/or its products," according to the email.
Three winners will be selected by "The Official Trader Joe's Cartoon Caption Committee." The grand prize winner, titled, The Great Wit, will have his or her caption featured in the Fearless Flyer and on Trader Joe's Web site home page, and will receive a $50 gift card.
The two runners-up, called the Honorably Clever winners, will have their captions on the Trader Joe's Web site home page, and will receive a $25 gift card each.
Trader Joe's operates more than 250 stores in 20 states.
