UNFI Subsidiary Launches New Organization

EDISON, N.J. -- Blue Marble Brands, a new organization dedicated to building industry-leading brands in the organic, natural, and specialty markets, launched yesterday. The company is an independent subsidiary of Dayville, Conn.-based organic and natural distributor United Natural Foods.

Formerly known as United Natural Brands, Blue Marble Brands includes organic, natural, specialty, ethnic, and functional foods from brands such as AH!Laska snacks and beverages, Biotta therapeutic juices, Cool Fruits freezer pops, Deep Sea tuna, Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel sea salt, Gourmet Artisan condiments, Grateful Harvest organic produce and fresh foods, Harvest Bay functional foods, Koyo organic Asian pastas and rice cakes, Loriva culinary oils, Moosewood vegetarian organic entrees and soups, Mediterranean Organic fruit and vegetable specialties, Natural Sea seafood products, Nantucket Off Shore rubs and seasonings, Old Wessex organic and natural hot cereals, Organic Baby jarred and frozen baby foods, Organic Classics organic entrees and soups, Rapunzel organic and fair trade chocolate and baking ingredients, Rising Moon Organics vegetarian foods, Tumaro's Gourmet Tortillas flavored flour tortillas, and Woodstock Farms organic and natural foods and beverages.

The company's goal is to team with retailers and distributors focusing on organic, natural, and specialty brands.

The name was chosen to be symbolic of the planet Earth, according to Atwood.
