United, Acosta Team up for MDA Fundraiser

United Supermarkets LLC, Acosta Marketing and manufacturers will once again team up for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Aisles of Smiles promotion.

From Aug. 1 to Sept. 3, when customers purchase products labeled with special “Aisles of Smiles” tags at any United, Market Street or Amigos location, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to MDA. Participating products will be featured in the stores’ weekly circulars.

Starting Aug. 15 until the end of the promotion, customers will also have the opportunity to purchase Smiley Face scan tags during checkout for as little as $1, with all proceeds going to MDA. Team members will encourage customers to write their name on the scan tags and display them in stores.

“We are thrilled to work with Acosta and its manufacturers to host Aisles of Smiles,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for United Supermarkets. “Our guests amaze us every year with their generosity. Last year, we raised more than $48,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and we know our guests will once again help provide support to the families living with neuromuscular disease.”

The grocery chain operates 51 supermarkets in Texas under four distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and United Express. The family-owned, Lubbock, Texas-based ’s 52nd store – a fourth-generation Market Street location – is currently under construction in Lubbock.
