The United Family is again partnering with fellow Texas-based company, Mrs Baird’s, to sponsor the Teachers On The Rise program for the 2013-2014 school year. This is the second year the companies have supported the program, which highlights outstanding teachers in the South Plains region through nominations by area students.
Throughout the school year, students can visit www.MrsBTeacher.com to fill out a brief entry on why their teacher deserves special recognition. Each month, one teacher in elementary, middle school/junior high and high school will be named a Teacher On The Rise. Winning teachers will receive a $100 gift card for United Supermarkets/Market Street/Amigos, and a $100 Visa gift card. The student who nominates a winning teacher will also receive a $50 Visa gift card.
“We are proud to sponsor this program for the second year alongside Mrs Baird’s,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for The United Family. “Teachers play such an important role in the lives of our children and are often the unsung heroes of our communities. We believe Teachers On The Rise is a great way to recognize them for their outstanding service to their students and schools.”
“We received many touching stories about our great teachers last year, and we look forward to reading the submissions again this school year," said Mrs Baird’s director of sales Jerry Cureton. "We have many great teachers who go above and beyond for their students, and that’s what this program is all about.”
Mrs Baird’s started the Teachers On The Rise program in 2011 in Northwest Arkansas and, based on its success, expanded the program to the South Plains in 2012. The program is sponsored by United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos, The Texas Classroom Teachers Association, KAMC 28-TV, 102.5 KISS-FM and NewsTalk 790 KFYO.
Based in Lubbock, The United Family, formerly United Supermarkets, LLC, operates 57 stores under four unique brands: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and United Express.
